Michael Biederstadt concentrates his practice in all aspects of family law, including divorce, parentage, allocation of parental responsibilities, child custody, child support, maintenancevaluation and allocation of marital estates, business valuations, high net worth dissolutionpre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, domestic violence, orders of protection, restraining orders and various other aspects of domestic relations.


Mr. Biederstadt graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2004 and then earned his Juris Doctorate in 2 ½ years and a semester early from Valparaiso School of Law in 2006. Mr. Biederstadt passed the Illinois bar exam immediately following graduation in early 2007.


During law school, Mr. Biederstadt gained experience:


  • Working for the Illinois State’s Attorney’s Office in the felony division of Markham, Illinois and assisting in the prosecution of murder, armed robbery, narcotics, rape, child molestation and various other felony cases.
  • Representing Collegiate and Olympic athletes while working within one of the countries only Sports and Entertainment Law Clinics at the Valparaiso School of Law.
  • As a judicial clerk for the Honorable John R. Pera in the law division of the Lake County, Indiana Circuit Court. During said time, Mr. Biederstadt was responsible for writing a brief at the direction of his presiding Judge, which was submitted to the Supreme Court of Indiana and

instrumental in instituting the Batson Challenge to jury selections within the State of Indiana and modifying the Indiana rules of civil procedure. In addition, Mr. Biederstadt assisted with revising the Indiana Pattern Jury Instructions chapter on Agency in working with Judge Pera.

  • At the Hammond, Indiana Legal Aid Clinic handling pro bono legal cases for the local community, who could not otherwise afford an attorney. This is where Mr. Biederstadt gained significant experience and exposure to the field of Family Law.


In 2007, Mr. Biederstadt joined one of the premiere family law firms located in Kane County, Illinois and served clients in Kane, DuPage, Kendall and DeKalb County. Mr. Biederstadt then transitioned to a boutique DuPage County family law firm in 2011 and served family law clients living in DuPage, Will, Cook and Kane County. The firm of Biederstadt Law, P.C. was then formed by Mr. Biederstadt and has been flourishing ever since.


During Mr. Biederstadt’s career, he has devoted himself to the practice of family law. From representation of high-net worth business owners going through a dissolution and navigating the complex division of valuable marital estates and businesses, to representing single mothers who cannot otherwise afford an attorney to secure support.


In 2014, Mr. Biederstadt assisted in co-founding a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit legal organization, Rise From the Ashes (RFTA), that assists women in severing ties from an abusive relationship and who are in desperate need of legal assistance to remove themselves and/or their children from a horrific situation, but do not qualify for legal services through their local legal aid or county bar associations.


Over the years, Mr. Biederstadt has also expanded his practice to areas of entertainment law, artist and management representation, copyright infringement, real estate law, criminal law and personal injury.
